«airBaltic» Reveals Top Inflight Food and Beverage Trends for 2025

Latvian airline airBaltic has released insights into its passengers’ inflight food and beverage preferences, revealing the most popular onboard products of 2025. During the year, airBaltic customers purchased more than 1.6 million inflight items, thus highlighting strong engagement with airCafe – airBaltic’s inflight menu, which features wide range of drinks, snacks, hot meals, and fresh food options.

Based on passenger purchasing data, the following items emerged as the most frequently selected products from the airline’s inflight menu in 2025:

On-board meals     Pre-orders            Sky Shop
Croissant        Omelette with bacon    Bugatti perfumes
Salmon wrap    Teriyaki salmon    Calvin Klein Sheer
Wrap burger    Cottage cheese scones    Unitweezer Universal Multi Tweezer
Panini        Chicken nuggets    Dr. PawPaw 7-in-1 Hair Treatment
Sour Cream&Onion Pringles    Orange juice    Magic Scratch notes

Local products remain an important part of airBaltic’s onboard offering. In 2025, items produced in Latvia made up approximately 32% of airBaltic’s inflight assortment and 9% of SkyShop products, including snacks, beverages, and selected retail items. The airline collaborates with Latvian brands such as Bio2you and Arsenijs Fabrica, with selected products available exclusively onboard, including in SkyShop. This approach allows airBaltic to feature regional products onboard while maintaining a broad and international selection.

Natālija Kuzmina, VP Customer Experience and Insights at airBaltic: “When creating the inflight offering, our focus is always on passengers, ensuring a wide variety of options to suit different tastes. In Economy Class, passengers can personalize their dining experience – either by selecting from our extensive pre-order menu or choosing during the flight from the onboard assortment – giving them greater freedom of choice. Customer feedback shows that this flexibility and variety are highly valued.”

“In Business Class, passengers enjoy a consistently high-quality dining experience, with meals thoughtfully created by our chef using local ingredients, complemented by a curated selection of drinks,” Kuzmina added.

airBaltic’s SkyShop onboard retail service offers passengers a curated selection of perfumes, accessories, and gifts. The most popular products in 2025 included perfumes from Bugatti and Calvin Klein, as well as the Unitweezer Universal Multi Tweezer and Dr. PawPaw 7-in-1 Hair Treatment, with total sales exceeding 75 000 items.

Alongside onboard purchases, airBaltic provides a pre-order option for inflight food and beverages for Economy Class passengers. In 2025, pre-order sales increased by 27% year-on-year, indicating a growing tendency among passengers to arrange their meals ahead of departure. Among the most popular pre-ordered items were omelette with bacon, teriyaki salmon, cottage cheese scones, orange juice, and chicken nuggets. However, passengers with special dietary needs may find such items as a poke bowl with tiger prawns and avocado, mushroom ravioli, a wok with tiger prawns or bulgur salad. If some celebration on board is planned, passengers may order strawberries with chocolate. Meals can be ordered either during ticket purchase or later via the Manage section on the airBaltic website.

Furthermore, airBaltic offers Business Class on all its scheduled flights, providing passengers with a seamless travel experience from airport to arrival. Business Class passengers benefit from priority check-in and boarding, fast-track security and access to the business lounge. Onboard passengers are seated in the front of the cabin with an empty adjacent seat for added privacy and comfort, and they can enjoy a full meal and beverage service delivered by a dedicated cabin crew. The Business Class experience also includes priority disembarkation, two cabin bags, and two checked bags, one of which may be sports equipment.
