Over the past decade and a half, Wizz Air has played a key role in strengthening Vilnius’ connectivity with Europe and beyond. Since launching operations in Lithuania in 2005, the airline has carried more than 13.6 million passengers to and from the country, consistently expanding its network and offering increasingly accessible travel options.
This year, Wizz Air is the fastest-growing airline in Lithuania and is the largest airline by market share at Vilnius Airport. The airline currently operates 24 routes across 18 countries, including 22 routes from Vilnius, alongside connections from Kaunas and Palanga.
As part of its continued expansion, Wizz Air has announced eight new routes for the summer season, further strengthening Vilnius’ position as a key travel hub in the region. These include destinations such as Tirana, Tallinn, Turku, Nice, Podgorica, Keflavik, Krakow, and Gdansk, offering passengers an even wider range of travel opportunities for both leisure and business.
To mark this special milestone and reaffirm its long-term commitment to Vilnius and Lithuania, Wizz Air will also launch a new route from Vilnius to Prague, operating three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from 5 September 2026. Fares start from 14.99€, further expanding affordable travel options for Lithuanian passengers. Tickets are already on sale on wizzair.com and via the WIZZ mobile app.
In 2026, the airline is offering 1 million seats from Lithuania for the summer season, with a total of 1.7 million seats available throughout the year, reflecting strong and growing demand for affordable air travel.
“Celebrating 15 years in Vilnius is a proud milestone for Wizz Air and a clear reflection of our long‑term commitment to Lithuania,” said Ian Malin, Chief Commercial Officer at Wizz Air. “Over this time, we have grown to become the largest airline at Vilnius Airport, and this summer we are operating our biggest schedule ever. We are deeply grateful to the more than 11.2 million passengers who have chosen Wizz Air to travel to and from Vilnius, and over 13.6 million across Lithuania. None of this would be possible without the dedication and passion of our WIZZ people, who make our growth and success possible every day”.
The milestone was also marked during a press conference held at Vilnius Airport, bringing together key partners and stakeholders to reflect on the airline’s growth and future plans in the country.
Gintarė Norvilaitė-Tautevičė, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Lithuanian Airports says: “Vilnius Airport has grown and changed significantly over the past 15 years. We thank Wizz Air for being a significant part of this story, contributing to better connectivity and more opportunities to travel. Today Wizz Air is a frequent choice for the record-breaking number of travellers passing through Vilnius Airport each year. I am certain this momentum in growth will further facilitate our long-standing partnership for years to come.”
Since launching its first Kaunas–Warsaw route in 2005, Wizz Air has carried almost 13.6 million passengers to and from Lithuania. Today, the airline operates 24 routes from Lithuania across 18 countries, making business and leisure travel easy, efficient, and accessible for all.
