RIX Welcomes the Winter Season with over 70 Destinations and New Airlines

As the winter flight season begins on October 26, coinciding with the switch to wintertime, RIX Riga Airport – the largest airport in the Baltics and the region’s main air traffic hub – will offer regular flights to more than 70 destinations across 35 countries.

Travellers will enjoy the broadest route network in the Baltics, with flights to popular leisure destinations, major European business centres, and new opportunities to travel to the Middle East and Scandinavia.

“Riga Airport maintains its leading position in the Baltics this winter with the widest range of destinations. Our goal is to provide travellers with ever more convenient connections and a diverse choice of routes, making travel accessible and comfortable throughout the year,” says Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of the Board of RIX Riga Airport.

This winter season will see the arrival of two new airlines – FlyDubai and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). FlyDubai will launch flights to Dubai three times per week starting in December, while SAS will return to Riga and plans to launch flights to Copenhagen in March 2026, further strengthening connectivity with Northern Europe.

Riga Airport’s largest carrier, airBaltic, continues to expand its network this winter season:
•    Faro – a new destination launched in September, operating until January and resuming in March 2026;
•    Porto and Pisa – extended flight seasons until the end of November;
•    Tel Aviv – flights resumed after a break last winter;
•    Increased flight frequencies to several popular destinations: Amsterdam (19x weekly), Athens (3x), Berlin (9x), Dubai (6x), Rome (5x), Helsinki (22x), Hurghada (3x), Istanbul (4x), Sharm El Sheikh (3x), and Marrakesh (2x).
Norwegian will continue flights to London, launched during the 2025 summer season, offering more options for travel to the UK capital.

Ryanair will increase flight frequencies on several popular routes this winter, including Dublin (5x weekly), Brussels (4x), Milan (5x), Paphos (3x), East Midlands (4x), and Malaga (3x).

Several other airlines continue to strengthen their presence in Riga:
•    Lufthansa – Frankfurt (10x weekly);
•    LOT Polish Airlines – Warsaw (17x weekly);
•    Finnair – Helsinki (27x weekly).
The winter flight season will run until March 2026.
